At Customised Training, we specialise in customising and conceptualising training programs to suit each client, and we are committed to meeting the very specific needs of every individual. This is achieved by performing a Training Needs Analysis, then designing training programs to suit each organisation and its employees.
We employ three main strategies which allow us to differ from other providers, and enhance our training and assessment effectiveness.
- It has been one of our deliberate strategies to over-service our students. We visit every student, whether trainee or fee for service student, at least monthly or six weekly, rather than the four or five visits paid for by the State Training Authority. This is a commercial decision made to ensure that our students get the best possible training, and of course, the extra visits are additional to normal phone calls, faxes and email contacts.
We believe that students need constant support and mentoring during the period of their training program. We have found that this coaching and support role taken on willingly by our trainers has meant that trainees and students feel that they can ask for help at any time, and often that help is offered before they even get around to seeking it out. This strategy has also had the effect of increasing the completion rate of our students and ensuring high levels of student satisfaction.
- Contextualisation and customisation (naturally, within the qualification packaging rules of each training package) has been another key to our success. Every trainee and student is given an individual training plan to suit their particular needs.
To achieve this individuality, we take great care in firstly talking to managers to assess what they see as their training needs for both the staff members and the organisation as a whole. Then we undertake an in-depth skills audit with the participant, so that we can recognise any prior learning (RPL), Mutual Recognition, Credit Transfers, as well as assessing and awarding credit for current competencies. We then design an individual training plan that reflects both past learning, current competencies, and future training needs.
- Customised training materials. It is vitally important, we believe, that trainees and students are not given training materials off the shelf. One size does not fit all in training - and it is vital to realise this and to recognise that all learners are different. Their learning styles, workplace environment, individual training needs, and the needs of the organisation in which they are working are always unique.
Often we use the logo of the organisation if this is their wish, with our instructional designers spending time in the organisation to be able to fully understand the workplace environment, terminology, training philosophy, etc. Our instructional design team then writes material that includes case studies, questions, projects and assessment tools that pertain particularly to that workplace, and to which the participants will be able to relate really well. Customised training material, we have found, makes a huge difference to how students cope with the training material, and how they feel that the training is relevant to their job role.
